Something to Celebrate!

This was likely the very last first winter some of us have ever experienced at Stoneridge Farm. The days are growing longer, shovels are being put away until next year, and the snow is starting to disappear. So what do you do when you realize something or someone you really liked will soon be leaving? Throw them a going-away party, of course! So today was all about finding ways to enjoy the last of winter and celebrating all of the things we love about the farm!
Celebrating the Creatures at the Farm
The ponies were happy to visit with us today. We have a new guest at the farm. Do you remember his name, age and what breed he is? (Albert, 26 years old, Fjord pony). He has worked hard plowing the fields, planting and harvesting all his life and now he gets to retire. Happy boy! You learned about grooming brushes (some know them already). Talk about how you used the hard and soft brush to clean your pony. Who did you brush today and do you think they enjoyed it? Thank you Frog and Chickadee for so patiently helping out the younger children with this task.

Do you think we visited the hens and ducks in the arena or were they the ones who visited us?
See if you can describe some of the funny things they did. Do you remember where the comb and the wattle are on a chicken?

Take a look at the rest of our day and see if you can pick out
the moments that you will remember the most!
Enjoying the Last Traces of Snow
Experiencing the Early Signs of Spring
Enjoying Fall Activities Again
Celebrating Learning
Enjoying Time with Our Friends
Celebrating the Start of Outdoor Whittling
Celebrating Bobcat's Birthday
We hope that all the birthday wishes we gave you will come true!

And last but not least, we have another celebration to look forward to when we return to Coyote Nature School for the spring session. The St. Marys Poetry Circle group will be displaying our land and sea poems in the windows of the stores downtown. Parents and children will also be able to attend a celebration and reading of our poems on Sat., April 11, 2026 at the River Walk Commons. More information will be sent out to you.

Cheers to both the end of an incredible winter session as well as the beginning of a terrific spring adventure! Enjoy your break and make the most of your time by getting outdoors and exploring!
