A wonderful day of discovery with the Herons! We spent our time plowing through deep snow, sledding, snowshoeing through the forest, and uncovering new sights along the way. Winter weather may bring cold and deep drifts, but it never stops us from exploring, playing, and finding adventure together.

Our winter Olympics brought excitement and challenge as we raced snow snakes, tested the longest sled runs, and worked together to pull heavy sleds. What did it feel like to push through a challenge today? We talked about how we can play like Olympic athletes. How did you show your teamwork, determination and sportsmanship today?
Our final challenge for sled pull was to see if you could move a fully grown Otter! Were you up for the challenge?

During our story time, Bright Winter Night showed us how friends can work together to build something meaningful.
Can you think of a moment today when you worked as part of a team? Did you help a friend with writing, share a sled or cheer for a friend today?
Our wander was full of creativity and imagination. Check out this catapult some friends made. How far were you able to launch a small stick?

Daisy and Rose created delicious snow snacks.

We heard some beautiful poetry today. How did you think of you poem? Did you experiment with rhyming words, or did you write about the winter landscape around you?
We ended our day together with drumming and singing along to "My Paddles Keen and Bright". Did any song or rhythm we played stay in your mind on the way home? Try singing it again for your family and teaching them the beat.
What a wonderful day with the Herons. Thank you for being such a welcoming group!
