A Sense of Community

The laughter and songs of our Harrington Herons echoed all around the pond today! It was all about reconnecting with old friends as well as getting to know those new to the flock! Connections were also made to the land including special places such as Mystery Forest, Crayfish Castle, and Muskrat Lodge where the Herons had a chance to interact with the trees, plants, and water. What connections did you make today?
Getting to Know One Another
Building, exploring and creating with others
Meeting at our new log circle in Mystery Forest

Getting to Know Harrington
Discovering in the mill, exploring the pond, travelling the trails
Library time with Grey Squirrel in the hall, exploring the community in Harrington
Connecting with Nature

Making New Discoveries
Bridgework has begun at the south end of the pond to connect the trails on each side.

Another exciting part of the day was our Nature Naming Ceremony! Each of us made a connection to nature by choosing the name of an animal, bird, plant, tree or insect that has some of the same qualities we have. Be sure to tell your family about the things we did during our ceremony. Think about the 4 directions, the tobacco and cedar as well as the hawk feather

What was your favourite connection to nature today? What are you looking forward to when you come back next week? We will continue to ‘grow our Heron nature family’ by making new discoveries, exploring different places in Harrington, and spending time getting to know each other better each time we meet.
Special thanks to Coyote who taught us the nature calls, Oriole who ‘flew in’ for the afternoon to help us explore the pond, and of course, sneaky Raccoon who often takes our pictures without us even noticing! Looking forward to more wonder together next week Forest Friends!
