Coyote Camp Memories

What better way to end the summer than to spend it making new friends and new memories while being immersed in nature all day long? The wonder of Stoneridge Farm had the Coyote Camp kids exploring and discovering, creating and making, writing and singing as well as hiking and playing.
Join us on a photographic journey that captures what each day had in store for us!
The theme for our first day was 'Getting Connected" and we found many different ways to do just that. We spent the day getting to know each other as well as the creatures that live around the farm. What were some of your best first memories of Coyote camp?
Our second day was called "How's it Growing?" and we were able to find many insects and plants that had grown since the spring. We learned that the Green Horned Worm Caterpillar loves tomatoes. We also found out how to use the pigments in leaves and flowers to make beautiful fabric art. Look at the pictures below and talk about what new things you discovered.
Wednesday's theme, 'Incredible Insects" was all about uncovering the many insects found around the property and finding out more about what makes them unique. We were able to catch and release spiders, potato bugs, moths, snails, caterpillars, and even a cicada! Our special guest for the afternoon was Antman who shared his incredible knowledge about ants. If you were an ant, would you prefer to live in an ant farm or in the wild?
There's a creek that runs through the property at the farm and it was the perfect setting for our "Wild About Water" day. We caught the largest crayfish yet and some of us were even brave enough to learn how to pick it up. Heron taught us all about fish ladders and we made models of a fish ladder and even played a game that allowed us to be the fish trying to get across the dam.
Dragonfly, another nature mentor came by in the afternoon and helped us find different insects around the farm. Which of the day's activities surprised you the most and why?
On Friday, we celebrated the week by enjoying a 'second helping' of the games and activities we really liked as well as a 'sprinkling' of new-to-us experiences. Look through the photos and talk about the ones you will never forget.

When the time came to say goodbye on Friday, we all agreed that we had had so much fun together every day that it was impossible to pick just one favourite memory! We hope that you will revisit this blog throughout the year so that you can be reminded of the many things you have to look forward to again next summer!
