Today was all about favourites! What was your favourite activity when you arrived? What was your favourite game we played? Did you have a favourite item in your lunch bag? Sometimes we had the same answers as other people and sometimes we had different answers. One thing we all agreed on was that we love being part of Coyote Nature school nature and spending our day outside!

During opening circle, we read the book, “All the Places to Love” which describes how every member of a young boy’s family introduces him to each of their favourite places when he is born. Find out if your family did that when you were a baby and if those places are still their favourites.
We decided it would be fun to visit all the different places in Harrington on the same day and then find out each person’s favourite spot! As we trekked around the community, we stopped to admire the beauty each area had to offer.
On Butterfly Hill, we tried some ‘Forest Bathing ’also called ‘Shinrin-yoku’ in Japan. It’s an activity which uses all of our senses to help us relax and really get to know the nature around us. How did this experience make you feel?

We used a ball of yarn to do a 'Web of Connectiveness' activity. It showed the different ways we connect with each other. Explain why you were more of tree person or a water person. Who do you connect the best with at nature school and who would you like to get to know better?

When it came time to write about the day in your nature notebook, there were so many discoveries and activities to write choose from. See if you can tell some of the stories from today by using the photos below.
Think about the place where you are going to hang your “I love you” heart and what makes it so special to you. The great thing about nature is that even when we can’t be outside in one of our favourite places, we just have to close our eyes and remember what it looks like and how it makes us feel. Nature is always only a thought away.

Sometimes it's the people you're with that make a place your favourite. When I close my eyes and imagine being in Harrington, it's our entire Heron group that brings a smile to my face. Your curiosity and excitement about being out in nature makes every place special!
