Embracing The Colours
What a wonderful day with the homesteaders! Today was spent caring for the animals, finishing up some large projects at Outpost and appreciating the fall colours with painting.

Farmers always have a box of assorted hardware to make repairs. What types of latches did we look over and find around the farm today (hint words: bolt, hook). How do they work and are there ones that you find tricky? (so do the raccoons).
We always love the feeling of good energy in our chores that some people would find difficult. This group had so much enthusiasm today, Trout even wanted to do 'double chores'! Next week, new working partners. Think about what you might change with a new chore buddy. You will be with your new partners for one month and we may be presenting the 'Silver Shoe' to the hardest working farmer team. Great idea Acorn!
Important Announcement: Nibbles was rounded up by Rosie and is safely back in the Bunny Barn. Think about how we can be sure to keep the rabbits from escaping in the future. We'll talk about this next week.
What a creative wander! "Spear The Deer" was the talk of the town. This is a toy used by indigenous people who would use these to teach their children about hand eye coordination and help their hunting skills. Did you make one of these? Many others spent their time colouring with tamarack. Share your creations with your family.

What beautiful fall colours in the trees around the homestead. You were asked to create a landscape using paint at Raspberry hill. Look over your painting at home and tell your family all the steps you took to make this painting. What did you start with? What colours did you choose? Special thanks to Tamarack for coming to share some of her knowledge!
Our outpost shelter is finally all finished thanks to your hard work. Did you help to add washers to the trap to help pin it down, weave rope to secure the sides or help to clean up around our structure? All of these jobs were important roles to make sure that this is a dry and safe shelter for the winter. I asked you how we could make the sides more wind proof. What were your ideas?
