Something to Chirp About

By now, you have probably already seen or heard many robins in the area where you live but today we learned that Red-winged Blackbirds and Common Grackles return to Ontario just as early. Birders of all kinds have come out of their own winter ‘hibernation’ to discover which birds are already back, which birds are on their way, and which birds will be the last to return.
Look at the bird identification cards below. Which row shows some of the birds who stayed with us all winter long? Which row shows some of the birds who have migrated back first? Which ones have you seen already?

Today ous job was to become birdwatchers so we could discover which birds will soon be nesting around the farm. What did we make and how did it help us?

Can you remember some of the birds we either saw or heard on our treks around Stoneridge?
Raccoon was able to capture a few pictures of the birds visiting the feeder just outside the barn.

Which was your favourite place to visit today and what did you do there?

We sure hope to see as many of you as possible for the Celebration of Poetry this Saturday from 1:00 - 3:00 at the Riverwalk Common in St. Marys.

We hope you'll think the poems we wrote are 'tree'-mendous!
