Spread a Little Kindness

Isn’t it great to have friends at Coyote Nature School to feel happy and safe with? How lucky we are!

What was your favourite time with a friend when you arrived at Nature School?  Did you help blow bubbles and try to catch them?  What did you cook up in the mud kitchen?  Did you create imaginary games with other super hero lovers?  Did you share in cleaning up and taking turns being on handwashing duty?  Did you feel welcomed by your friends? What animal friend came to visit after lunch?

What did Orange Shirt Day mean to you?  Did our morning chat help you?  How did you feel when Dragonfly read Shin chi’s Canoe? Did you feel sad about all the children being sent away from their homes and their way of life?  What was your hope for all children in the world as you dropped your little leaf into the water? Talk to your families about what you were feeling and what you wrote on your leaf?  Let’s all hope all children can feel happy, lucky and safe just like we do!

With care, kindness and tender handling we explored Sunrise Hill and Sunrise Field in the morning, picking flowers and collecting an assortment of bugs...toe biters appeared again this week!  Crickets were all over Sunrise Field. How many did you find hiding under rocks and in the grass?  Did you find any bugs during the Camouflage game? What were those little red bugs anyway?  Did you enjoy using some of the plants to make herbal soups and salads?  Yum!

Meet Your Tree!  Out at Butterfly Hill in the afternoon we learned lots about colourful leaves after listening to Dragonfly read Lawrence in the Fall but we also learned about how to look after our friends!  Did you trust your friends when you were blindfolded and were led to a mystery tree?  Did you feel safe as they led you around?  What did your tree smell like, feel like?  How tall was it?  Could you hug it?  What was on the ground by your tree?  After you took the blindfold off were you able to find your tree?  Some of you played the game a number of times!  You must be tree experts!

Did you enjoy sharing the stage with your friends during the puppet play with our nature animal puppets?  There was mystery, humour and problem solving happening throughout!  Did you enjoy taking turns with your friends’ characters?  As we walked back to the Hall we all agreed.  Looking forward to fine tuning our acting craft in the weeks to come!

Our journal time was full of reflection about our day!  Did you draw pictures about your discoveries?  Did you make kindness badges, draw hearts and learn about kind words to say to others?  Practice makes perfect!  Looking forward to all the learning and caring for each other and nature in the weeks to come!
