Playing with a scarf!
Playing with a scarf!

At Harrington today, we discovered some new ways to engage young children in nature. Using our ‘owl eyes’ we looked for coloured rocks and collected a couple of special nature items. Please remember some things are not safe to collect and it is good to be close by to help guide your child. Also to see what they see at their level, as often a different perspective reveals new sights.

A small clothes line in the forest held our scarves. If you don't have a scarf, you can use a sock, a towel or even a napkin. There are so many things you can do with a scarf. You can dance, make circles and other shapes or play hide and seek.  What else can you do with a scarf?

Playing and exploring in Mystery Forest offers a space to find and play with natural materials. It is fun to see how each child plays with natural objects and with each other. “Get you hot dogs!” was something to recall about the imaginative play in the forest this week.
