Fall Faces

We had a wonderful fall day full of pumpkins, crisp fallen leaves and autumn weather. What was your favourite part of our day together?

Get ready for the cold! Just like getting ready for Christmas by checking the lights and pulling out decorations, people tending animals are preparing for the cold. What were the three winter preparations teams did we divide into? (temperature, security, food). Do you remember any of the things we need to work on before the cold hits?

Chores are routines, like brushing your teeth or cleaning your room. How did you find your routine and teamwork on the job this week? Any changes you would make?

Listening is part of learning and each of you are different in the ways you engage (participate) when new information is being delivered. Are you finding it hard to hear messages from mentors? If so, why? Our goal for this group is to move towards greater freedom and choice.

When will we know you are ready to have us give you the responsibility to choose your best working partner, decide on projects or have a bigger area to wander? Start thinking about these questions and we'll talk together.

While on our wander, many of you experimented with potion making. Here is all that Hawk added into hers.

A dandelion for sunshine and light in our lives

Bark for the strength of the trees

Sap for sweetness in our lives

A berry and corn so we always have enough to eat

Water so we always have enough to drink

Charcoal for purification and protection

A bright Fall leaf for the beauty of Nature

Milkweed wisps for wishes come true

With your partner, you worked as a team to design your pumpkin. Did you go with your first idea or revise your thoughts with your partner. Tell someone at home about how you carve your pumpkin. Did you make letters, gently carve in details or add sticks and leaves to the design.

What beautiful artwork you created using pumpkin seeds! What fall colours did you use? Some of you chose to keep your seeds on the tree and others decided to have them falling to the ground. We still have lots of seeds left over and we will have a pumpkin treat for you next week!
