Finding Our Paths

We know that snails and slugs leave paths of silver as they travel. Their paths don’t always

look the same but they can still arrive at exactly the same place. Today, we separated into 2 groups and each group took a different trail in order to get to Pine Haven. Our groups drew maps of what their paths looked like and we could see that one path was definitely longer than the other. When we compared what we saw and heard as we walked, we discovered that although some of the things were the same, there were also important differences. We came to the conclusion that each path had its advantages and disadvantages.

Last week, we noticed that the path through Homestead forest needed to be longer so we were very lucky to have Junco join us again this year. She showed us how to make burdock leaf stepping stones using cement. Look at the pictures below and see if you can explain the steps we needed to take in order to make them. We also used smaller burdock leaves to form bowls we can hopefully take home next week. Talk about what you thought about this experience and what you think will happen when we remove the leaves next week. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
