Friends of the Trees
Today was all about the trees that create our forests. We talked about all of the life they help support around us and even continue to help the animals after they fall down! We had the chance to make new tree friends in our forest. These tree friends will teach us about how the life of a tree changes though the year.
Our morning story told us about how trees are just like you and me. Can you remember what body part was similar to the trunk of a tree? What body part was similar to the branches? There are so many similarities between trees and humans. When we counted on our fingers we found 10! See if you can share 2 others similarities with your family.
Out to mystery forest for our wander! Did you play make belief or practice your tree climbing skills. Many of you found creepy crawly critters, Can you name a few? We loved seeing how you invited new friends to play with you. Next week, see if you can find some time to play with a new friend!
Gray Squirrel shared a beautiful story with us about a rock. Do you remember 2 things this rock became for other animals though out this story? "And it was, as it was, where it was in the world". Think about this and tell your family what you remembered reading about this stone.
Near the end of the day we meet our new tree friends. Take a minute to think about the tree that you chose. How tall do you think it is? Is the bark smooth or bumpy? During this year, we will be coming back to them quite a bit to see how they change during each season.
