The Wonders Of Beginnings

We were so happy to meet all of the new and returning faces of our Chickadee program today. Our theme for the day was caring for our land and each other. Think back to our talk about how we can be good care takers of our world. Did you think about the plants, animals or friends? Try to tell someone at home one of your ideas.

In our name game, We connected an action or a sound to our nature name. Try sharing your sound or action with your family!

Beaver told us a creation story from the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe people. From this story, can you remember what the earth was before it was created? (The back of a turtle). Do you remember the creature that was able to collect mud from the ocean to create the land? (The muskrat)

Much of our day was spent out at Pine Haven. Here we worked on learning each others names and exploring our area. What did you notice? Did you find a bug? Pick a beautiful flower? We chatted about how we can respect the land. Can you think of how you showed respect during our wander?

Give a special thanks to Antman for always bringing something wonderful for us to investigate. Today, he brought some bees from home for us to take a closer look at.

When we returned to the farm, we opened our journal for a reflection on our day. What did you write about? Was it about a critter that you found or did you write a story about a friend?

Here are our first day photos our our Chickadees!

We closed out a wonderful day with music. See if you can remember any of our songs to sing to your parents!
