With fewer hands to do chores we picked up the pace. Our girl power team, Blue Racer and Cardinal teamed up with Coyote to get all the stalls done, while Hawk and Frog did a SUPER clean of the stinky bunny barn.
Grooming was followed by lead work practice. It's a skill that takes time and is different with each horse. Gus was pokey today, I wonder why?
Hawk continues her animal whispering and helps us focus on being intentional and present for this AMAZING experience.

Back at outpost we got started on a HUGE cleanup of our shelter and campfire pit. How did you spend your time here? Daisy and Sunflower took turns using the saw to cut fire wood. Owl and Salmon helped to make repairs on the Outpost shelter. Reflect on what you did here. How did you make this shelter safer for all of the groups that come out to use this space?
While cleaning up our shelter we found something! After chatting with Coyote and Antman, we discovered that it was a Turkey egg. A good rule is to leave your discoveries where you find them. However, this egg was laid right on top of out outpost shelter. Our egg has now made its home with the ducklings. We have one thought of a name for our new egg, feel free to brainstorm more this week.
Were you staying warm by the fire, exploring the river or making clay pottery during our wander? The whittling knives came back out for the first time in spring. Can you remember the 3 important rules that we have for whittling? (Blood Bubble, Using a Kevlar glove, cutting away from the body)
Our garden bed is nearly taken down and ready to be remade. What was your job during this task? Were you helping with moving soils, taking out stakes or moving plants to a safer area? Getting the stakes out of the ground is tricky work. Acorn and Blue Racer, what were your strategies for this? Although we are almost finished tearing the old bed down, there is still sow much to be done next week!
If you were working on sanding the donated child picnic table, talk about the grade of coarseness of the sandpaper you started with and finished off using. All of you could probably tell what 40 versus 320 would feel like. We are all set to paint next week. Colour suggestions Homesteaders???
Robert is now a Duck Apartment expert - what can't Antman do? The door is ready to go on and then it's time to make it pretty!
