And what a team we are! Team Turtle! Just like the deer in Mystery Forest and the Olympic athletes in Italy we work together no matter how much snow, how cold, how slippery or how difficult? It looked like the bird whose wing we found wasn’t so lucky. What did you think might have happened to our poor feathered friend? Where were his friends and family? It is always more fun and comforting when you know you have friends looking out for you. Pin Cherry, Bobcat, Deer and Cardinal observed a lone swan floating in the water. Together they came up with a name. Presenting Don/Dawn the Swan! Suddenly we saw what looked like a black duck floating next to it. Pin Cherry was relieved to see that the swan had someone special to swim with. Who did you enjoy spending time with today?
In Mystery Forest, we once again observed how the deer in the forest stick together. Lots of deer scat and footprints where they walk, sleep and just hang out together. We left the animals some bird seed (thanks, Owl!) and some beautiful pink snow hearts! Thanks for fixing the carton feeder, Bobcat!
Valentine’s Day is Saturday but that didn’t stop the Turtles from showing some love! Grey Squirrel had all the supplies and we went to work to create our little cards for someone we loved. In the story I’m Sticking With You Grey Squirrel introduced us to friends who had to be separated to realize how much they miss each other when they are apart. Who and what do you miss when you are not here? Who did you surprise today with your cards?
Land and sea, time for poetry! What animal did you choose to talk about in your brainstorming group? Was it a land or a sea animal? Was creating a poem with your ideas difficult? Our poems came alive with flies, spiders, penguins, bears, snakes and even salamanders! Some of you also worked hard at home writing poems. Try to write a poem for a friend or family member. Maybe your family can help you. We will be sharing some of our poems next week so feel free to bring some friendship poems as well. Roses are red, violets are blue…what could come next?
Good friends are great listeners. Our talking sticks are all ready to go and will be a good way to remember whose turn it is to talk or to listen. Some colours represented love, friendship and kindness. What colours of yarn did you wrap around your stick? Time to show your true colours next week! See you at the Turtle Nest!
