Nature provides us with so many resources! You just have to take a look around you and then let your imagination run wild! Nature sparks our curiosity, allows us to find ways to be more creative, and shapes the stories that we tell.
Leaves, sticks, stalks, and vines were some of the materials we used to make nature boats today. Which materials did you use and how did your boat float? What would you do differently next time?

These vessels stayed afloat and made their way slowly but surely to the open pond.

When we use the land and its resources, we understand that it’s important to do so with respect. See if you can explain the practice called “Leave No Trace” (LNT) to someone at home. What are some of the ways you practiced LNT today and how did it make you feel?
Which picture doesn't belong and whose traces did we discover?
By using materials from nature as well as some recycled items, you were able to build a healthy habitat for an insect which will allow it to thrive while you learn more about it. Antman explained how different insects need different habitats in order to survive but all insects have the same needs - food, water, shelter. What features did you put in your habitat to keep your insect happy and healthy?

Grey Squirrel helped us ignite our sense of nature even more by sharing two lovely books. The author in ‘Some Bugs’ asks us what kind of bug we’d like to be and finishes her book with this: “ Stinging, biting, stinking, fighting, hopping, gliding, swimming, hiding, building, making, hunting, taking - bugs are oh-so fascinating!” So, what type of insect would you choose to be and why?

Let’s look back at some of the other ways we interacted with nature today:
'Oakland' is the newest addition to our sapling forest. Thanks to Sunflower and her family for donating this lovely red oak!
Although next week is our last Friday, today we had to say ‘thank you and goodbye to Otter who
did a field placement with us! We all agreed that it was great having him here at nature school and we wish him the best in both his teaching and music careers!
