Learning To Work!

ree

A beautiful first day with the Homesteaders at Coyote Nature School. Today we learned about caring for the many farm animals and learned some wood working skills. We also had a chance to tour the property to see all the wonderful wildlife that inhabits our school.

Morning Chores

After giving a warm welcome to our new and old students we had a chance to meet some of the animals in the barn. Can you remember all the farm animals you saw today? The skills needed to take care of animals are important and call for a little bit of hard work. Some of these jobs included mucking horse stalls, moving hay and caring for the chickens. What was your favourite chore?

Discovering The Farm

On our walk back to Outpost we saw many changes since the last time at the farm. What did you notice? Did you see growth in some of the plants? Once we got to Outpost, we had a chance to explore the river. Do you remember what creatures you found in the river? How did you make them comfortable in the habitats you created for them?

Our First Project

Back at Pine Haven we started our first project of building benches. Do you remember what tools you used to help make them? Why was sanding them down important? It took teamwork to move them around the campfire circle. Thanks to all of this handiwork we will have beautiful seating around the fire pit at Pine Haven for years to come!

We hiked back to the Homestead to reflect on our past experiences at Coyote Nature School and share our thoughts on what we are excited for in the year to come. What are some of your favourite memories about Coyote Nature School and what are you hoping we do this year?

Next week there are have many fun things in store, and we look forward to seeing all of you again.
