Life of a Seed

1 min read

Today was all about the life of a seed. We learned about seeds, gathered seeds and even planted some seeds. Can you remember some of the ways that a seed can travel to find the ground? Think and share 3 different ways with your family.

We read a story about a Raccoon and a seed. Both of them went though a big change during the book. How did the seed change? How did the Raccoon change?

We spent the morning finding all types of different seeds around the farm. Can you name a couple? One popular choice was the milkweed. Can you remember how milkweed spreads its seed? (Wind)

Our wander was spent at Pine Haven. We explored, discovered and played pretend. Tell your family about one activity that you did during this time.

Were you someone who help to plant our tree, or did you spend your time adding flowers to planters? The apple tree that we planted is 4 years old and will be happily growing with you though this year! Although the ground was hard, it was no match for the strength of Antman!

What steps did you have to take while adding these plants to the planters? Did you add anything to the soil to help them grow? We will be checking back in on these next week to see if they have grown at all.

We took a leaf from each of our tree friends and added a rubbing into our nature note books. Tell someone at home about how to leaf rub. Maybe you can be the expert and show your family how to make one of these creations!
