Welcome Coyote! Here's a nature name challenge for you!
Welcome Coyote! Here's a nature name challenge for you!

What a day? Notice anything today? We definitely missed having Cardinal with us today but we had a great time with our special guests. One of the warmest days this spring and wonderful day to do some exploring at Harrington. Notice anything today? A huge thanks goes out to Coyote and Antman who also showed up with some of their favourite animal friends!

Did you meet Nibbles and Princess? What did you learn about how to behave around rabbits? What do rabbits eat? Do rabbits in the wild have any predators?

Bobcats catch and eat a lot of rabbits. Bobcats are a type of cat that live in the wilds of Northern Ontario. Can you name 3 special features of a bobcat that make it different than a house cat?

Was there anything new in Mystery Forest? A big manure pile in the distance, a Baltimore Oriole, a big bag of garlic mustard, or a piece of mushroom. What did you like doing in Mystery Forest today? Did you show or share something with Coyote or another Turtle friend?

Grey Squirrel gave us each a clue to an animal in an 'eye spy' book. Can you remember the name of your animal? This book was very challenging for most to find their animal camouflaged in the pictures. I think Grey Wolf and Black Bear were the quickest to say and find their animals!

We also had a bug scavenger hunt. Bugs were everywhere in the library today. On books, flowers, horses, shelves, walls. Did you find them all?

We continued to notice things in the afternoon. With the help of Antman, we learned more about ants we found on the trees and on the ground. There were other bugs, butterflies and spiders too! Were you able to catch something? What made it easy to catch? What made it hard to catch?

Bugs are everywhere outside too! We also made some seed balls to plant in Sunrise Field.

Antman showed us his colony of ants and Dragonfly was pretty excited to see a queen ant. Wouldn't it be nice to have 12 helpers make sure you are comfortable and feed you too?

Here are some other memories to share with your family! What a day?
