Thank you, Trees!

It is starting to look and feel like autumn at Stoneridge Farm. What did you notice that was different today? With Thanksgiving Day next week, today we read the story “If Animals Gave Thanks” by Ann Whitford Paul. We wondered what the animals might do or say to give thanks. We heard ‘the party’ of Blue Jays.  What were they saying? What about the caw, caw of the crows? Your child might not notice all the wonderful things nature gives us so it is helpful to name the things that we do see, hear or feel. Thank you sun for giving us warmth today! Thank you wind! Thank you trees!

A lot of the tiny animals we saw or collected today were quiet - the grasshopper resting on a leaf or the snails and slugs hiding under the leaves. Even the crayfish didn't make a sound. I bet they were thankful to be released back into their nature homes. What were you thankful for today?
