Spiders Come To Life!
Which picture did you model your spider craft after? Did you remember the name of the spider? There were so many to choose from. How many eyes did it have? All those eyes and they still can’t see very well. A surprising fact. Talk to your family about the stories you acted out with your spiders. Think about acting out a little play about spiders for your family.
What Can Spiders Teach Us?
Webs connect to so many places and they are able to catch a lot of yummy insect snacks in their silky threads. In our book Weaving Wonders, we learned some facts about spiders. What fact do you remember? What do they do with their eggs? What do spiders eat? How do they eat their food? Do you think a spider is a more of an artist or an engineer?

What connections did you make with nature today?
When you visited the animal resting spots you made last week what did you notice? Any activity? What improvements could you make to your spot to attract more animals?
What kind of books do you choose when you go to the library? Did you find a friend who likes the same topics? Can you think of someone to read a book with? There were lots of readers eager to look at books about spiders, dinosaurs, animals and Little Critter. Think of some books you would really like to see in the library. Tell us why you would love to read those books next week! Thank you Grey Squirrel for the rhyming book on animals that migrate and the hibernating animals scavenger hunt.
Our Tree Friends
Quick, head into the Mill! While the rain fell on the roof of the Mill we thought of ways we could appreciate our tree friends. After listening to the poem My Tree Friend, how were some ways the characters showed love, respect and gratitude for their tree friends? It looked like our tree friends on Butterfly Hill got lots of water from the rain. The Turtles added sticks, leaves, mud and pieces of corn that we found laying on the ground. If you were to write a poem about your tree friend what rhyming words would you use? Snapping Turtle, Grey Wolf and Black Bear were already coming up with some great rhymes in their journals. Think of some words you would like to include in your poem. Can you think of words that rhyme with them? What would your poem sound like? Ask your family to help you brainstorm and write some ideas and bring them to Nature School next week.
